Uber (UBER.US) and Israeli autonomous driving technology firm Autobrains announced on Monday a collaboration with US chipmaker NVIDIA (NVDA.US) to launch a self-driving taxi project in Munich, Germany. The initiative aims to scale autonomous ride-hailing services across Europe.

The three parties plan to integrate Uber's mobility network with Autobrains' "Agent AI" driving system, operating on NVIDIA's Drive Hyperion platform. Munich will be the first city for service deployment, pending the completion of necessary regulatory approvals.

This project is designed to expand Robotaxi services beyond isolated pilots by operating across multiple vehicle platforms and city markets through a "cross-OEM" model. Autobrains' system breaks down driving decisions into multiple specialized agents, enabling real-time responses using standard onboard sensors.

Munich has become a key testing ground for autonomous mobility in Europe. Uber previously indicated plans to commence autonomous vehicle road testing in the city starting in 2026.
