On Thursday local time, Elon Musk's AI startup xAI and the government of El Salvador announced a partnership to develop and deploy a nationwide AI education system over the next two years. This initiative will make El Salvador the first country to implement personalized AI tutoring across its entire public school system.

The collaboration will leverage xAI's Grok model to provide tailored learning experiences for students in over 5,000 public schools in El Salvador. The new system will utilize cutting-edge AI as a personalized tool to accelerate student learning while empowering thousands of teachers to become highly engaged partners in the educational process.

Musk posted on X: "Grok will be used nationwide in El Salvador for personalized education!"

In a statement, xAI said its Grok chatbot will bring "personalized learning to over 1 million students" by creating "tutoring that adapts to each student's progress, preferences, and mastery level." This ensures every child, from urban centers to rural communities, receives world-class education customized to their needs.

El Salvador President Nayib Bukele stated in the announcement that the country will "pioneer AI-driven education."

Last month, Bukele announced a partnership with Google to launch a mobile app enabling Salvadorans to access free virtual medical consultations with doctors using AI assistance.
