The organizing committee for the WTT (World Table Tennis)常规挑战赛太原站2026 announced on March 27 that the event will be held from April 7 to 12 at the Taiyuan Binhe Sports Center Gymnasium. The tournament is jointly organized by WTT, the Chinese Table Tennis Association, the Shanxi Provincial Sports Bureau, and the Taiyuan Municipal People's Government.
The competition will feature five categories: men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles, and mixed doubles. Champions in each category will earn 400 world ranking points.
In the men's singles event, young talents including Wen Ruibo, Xiang Peng, and Chen Yuanyu are set to compete. The women's singles will see rising Chinese players such as Shi Xunyao and Qin Yuxuan face challenges from Japanese competitors Hashimoto Honoka and Oto Satsuki.
The men's doubles pairs Lin Shidong/Huang Youzheng and Xiang Peng/Chen Yuanyu are highly anticipated as strong contenders for the title. Additionally, 63-year-old "table tennis grandma" Ni Xialian has confirmed her participation.
