Wuxi Expands Talent Recruitment by Sending Both Employers and Job Seekers to Nanjing Job Fair

Wuxi has taken a new approach to talent acquisition by mobilizing both sides of the job market to travel to Nanjing, rather than relying solely on inviting candidates to the city. The city organized 161 key employers and nearly 200 overseas returnees to attend the national graduate and high-level talent exchange conference.

The participating companies offered a total of 4,702 job openings, with 723 positions (15.4%) requiring master's or doctoral degrees. High-paying roles with annual salaries exceeding 200,000 yuan accounted for 1,486 positions, representing 31.6% of all openings. Major employers included leading firms in integrated circuits, new energy, biomedicine, artificial intelligence, and embodied intelligent robotics.

Among the overseas returnees seeking jobs, master's degree holders made up approximately 58%, doctoral graduates comprised about 26%, and bachelor's degree holders accounted for 16%. Their specialties spanned artificial intelligence, electrical engineering, software engineering, digital media, and energy engineering.

This year's strategy marks a shift from previous practices of bringing employers and candidates into Wuxi. Instead, the city's human resources department arranged for both sides to travel to a larger job market, expanding the search for suitable positions and talent. One batch of companies headed out with job openings to find candidates, while another group of job seekers boarded chartered vehicles to find opportunities.

Companies participating in the event found that leveraging the provincial platform significantly broadened their recruitment reach. A representative from one semiconductor company received approximately 50 resumes shortly after the fair opened, with plans to hire 20 to 30 people for roles in power device development, sales engineering, procurement, and AI application development. The recruiter noted that provincial-level events expose employers to graduates from various regions and universities, offering a wider talent pool and more choices compared to local recruitment alone.

A robotics innovation company focusing on embodied intelligence brought around 10 positions in algorithms, research and development, and motion control, quickly gathering roughly 30 resumes. Its HR director mentioned that centralized recruitment events allow companies to learn about relevant universities and programs, helping them identify better channels for future campus visits and targeted talent searches.

For job seekers, traveling to the fair provided clearer career options. One graduate from a British university, about to complete a master's degree, spoke with more than a dozen companies during the morning, searching primarily for roles in international trade and overseas business expansion. She said the face-to-face format made it easier to understand exactly what each job involves, what skills are needed, what salaries are offered, and how talent policies vary across cities, compared to searching multiple online platforms individually.

The Wuxi booth attracted steady crowds throughout the event. Human resources representatives explained job requirements, compensation packages, and career development paths, while policy specialists detailed rental and home purchase subsidies under the city's talent attraction initiatives. Some companies offered annual salaries up to 600,000 yuan for senior algorithm and digital design engineer positions, drawing considerable interest from highly qualified professionals.

By the end of the day, Wuxi companies had received 4,483 resumes and established preliminary employment intentions with 416 candidates. During the conference, Wuxi's livestream recruitment team collaborated with the provincial employment team to broadcast the event online, attracting 184,000 viewers.

Wuxi continues to strengthen its support for young talent. The latest version of its talent attraction program offers home purchase subsidies of up to 400,000 yuan, along with annual rental subsidies of 10,000 yuan for bachelor's degree holders, 15,000 yuan for master's graduates, and 30,000 yuan for doctoral recipients, renewable for up to two years. The city also maintains 10,000 high-quality talent apartments available at 40% discounts or with up to 30,000 yuan in annual rental support.

During the provincial talent week, Wuxi simultaneously launched its autumn campus recruitment series in Nanjing. Over the coming days, companies will visit several local universities to hold fall recruitment events, extending the impact of this talent drive. From provincial job fairs to campus visits, and from online livestreaming to in-person meetings, Wuxi is broadening its recruitment reach and improving the precision of matching candidates with suitable positions.

Officials stated that Wuxi will build on this series of talent exchange activities to deepen cooperation between the city and educational institutions, expand recruitment channels, and create broader platforms for young professionals to find employment and start businesses in Wuxi, injecting fresh momentum into the city's high-quality economic and social development.
