During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, Beijing has leveraged its advantages in scientific talent to achieve a 75% contribution rate from agricultural technological progress, leading the nation in comprehensive sci-tech strength. The city is rapidly advancing its "Seed Industry Capital" initiative, with 29 seed enterprises selected as national leaders—the highest number in China. Annually, Beijing ranks among the top regions for newly approved crop varieties, with breeding levels for 9 species leading globally and 18 species dominating domestically.

Beijing has steadily enhanced agricultural production capacity through initiatives like the three-year action plan for high-quality vegetable industry development. Modern facility agriculture has expanded, establishing 10 industrial promotion zones and 35 large-scale production clusters. Projects boosting egg, dairy, and fishery sectors have increased self-sufficiency rates for key products. Grain yields have grown for five consecutive years, with sown area and output rising 93% and 89% respectively from the 13th Five-Year Plan’s end, reaching mid-to-upper national yield levels.

Deepening collaboration with national ministries, Beijing has fostered an "Agricultural Zhongguancun" hub. Policies supporting R&D, enterprise growth, and innovation have concentrated resources in Pinggu District, forming a coordinated sci-tech network with seven specialized zones. The city enacted the Beijing Seed Ordinance to revitalize the seed sector, safeguarding 2.144 million germplasm resources—the nation’s largest reserve.

Rural-urban integration has thrived via agritourism, with over 100 premium travel routes launched in suburban areas. Initiatives have spawned rural markets, gourmet spots, and homestays, earning six national leisure agriculture demonstration counties and 266 municipal-level scenic villages.

Looking ahead, Beijing aims to align with its strategic urban role, prioritizing rural development through sci-tech and reform. By bridging urban and suburban synergies, the city will advance modern urban agriculture, elevate rural governance, and showcase a "capital window" for China’s agricultural modernization.
