Fire That Broke Out On Shipyard Of ASL Marine’s Subsidiary Left Four Dead And Five Injured

An incident involving fire which happened at ASL Marine Holdings’ subsidiary’s shipyard in Batam on June 24 has left four dead and five injured, according to a bourse filing on June 25.

The group says that initial inquiries confirm that the incident occurred on board a Floating Storage and Offloading (FSO) Vessel that was undergoing afloat repair alongside one of the shipyard’s jetties.

The five that are injured are currently receiving medical treatment, and all nine individuals are employees of ASL’s subcontractor.

The investigations are currently in process and all works on the FSO has been suspended until the cause is established, says ASL Marine.

“We are deeply saddened by this incident which resulted in loss of lives and injuries. We extend our deepest and heartfelt condolences to the families of all the victims and as a matter of utmost priority and dedication, we will continue to work diligently with the authorities, the owner of the FSO and our subcontractor to render all necessary assistance to the affected victims and their families,” says ASL Marine in a release.

Shares in ASL Marine closed 0.2 cents higher or 3.448% up at 6 cents on June 25.
