Second-hand fashion marketplace Depop announced on Wednesday the launch of a new styling and collage tool designed specifically for users who enjoy creating fashion mood boards. The new feature, called "Outfits," provides a mood board-like interface where users can design curated clothing ensembles to share with their followers or use as inspiration for their next look.

To use the feature, users can select items they want to style together and then tap the scissors icon on the right side of the screen. This opens a range of customization options, including adding colorful backgrounds and adjusting the size and position of images. Templates are also available to serve as layout guides.

The company notes that all items featured in the collages are available for purchase, and if a particular item sells out, the app will suggest similar alternatives.

This new addition provides sellers with an opportunity to showcase items they currently have for sale and present them in styled collages that inspire potential buyers to envision how these clothing pieces and accessories work together.

Additionally, users can share static images of their curated outfit collages across various social media platforms, including Pinterest and Instagram. This appears to be a strategic move by Depop to appeal to its Gen Z user base, as collages have become increasingly popular among younger users.

For instance, Pinterest launched its own collage-making app Shuffles in 2022, later integrating the Shuffles functionality into its main application.

Depop stated that the new Outfits feature is currently available to all users within the Depop app.

This announcement follows parent company Etsy's second-quarter 2025 earnings report, which showed Depop's gross merchandise sales (GMS) grew 34.7% year-over-year on a currency-neutral basis. This growth positions Depop on track to achieve a $1 billion annual GMS run rate.

In comparison, competitor Mercari reported gross merchandise value (GMV) of $728 million for the fourth quarter of 2024.
