Shandong Heavy Industry Group and BAIC Group have officially signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement in Beijing, with Weichai Power Co.,Ltd. and Beiqi Foton concurrently inking a separate collaboration accord to advance comprehensive, multi-domain partnerships and foster high-quality industry growth.
The signing ceremony was attended by Wang Zhijian, Party Secretary and Chairman of Shandong Heavy Industry; Zhang Jianyong, Party Secretary and Chairman of BAIC Group; and Chang Rui, Deputy Party Secretary and General Manager of BAIC Group, who also serves as Chairman of Beiqi Foton. During the event, Ma Changhai, Member of the Party Committee and Vice President of Shandong Heavy Industry, alongside Party Secretary and Chairman of Weichai Group, together with Chen Wei, Vice President of BAIC Group, executed the strategic framework agreement between the two parent companies. Subsequently, Wang Decheng, Deputy Party Secretary and General Manager of Weichai Power, and Lu Zhenghua, Party Secretary and General Manager of Beiqi Foton, signed the strategic cooperation agreement binding their respective entities.
Under the terms of the agreement, Shandong Heavy Industry and BAIC Group will leverage their respective industrial portfolio advantages to deepen collaboration across several critical areas, including the coordinated supply of core powertrain components, joint research and development of new energy products, integration of intelligent connected vehicle technologies, and management enhancement initiatives. The overarching goal is to jointly drive the commercial vehicle sector toward greater intelligence, greener operations, and deeper convergence across the value chain.
As flagship enterprises under their respective parent groups, Weichai Power and Beiqi Foton will fully harness their combined industrial strengths to comprehensively intensify cooperation in powertrain component sourcing synergy, new energy product innovation, intelligent connectivity technology integration, and operational management optimization. This multi-layered, pragmatic collaboration aims to achieve tangible results through resource sharing and complementary advantages, effectively dismantling barriers between vehicle manufacturing and core powertrain supply chains to elevate product competitiveness and accelerate industrial upgrading.
