Positive Outlook for Major Tech Firms' Capital Expenditure Drives Japanese Stock Market Higher

Investors are analyzing earnings reports from major technology giants, with market sentiment turning optimistic about the future capital expenditure of tech companies, propelling the Japanese stock market upward.

The Topix index rose 0.5% to 4,052.96 points, while the Nikkei 225 index climbed 1.1% to 66,869.57 points.

Tokyo Electron Ltd was the component stock contributing the most to the Topix's gain, with its share price surging by 3.1%.

Among the index's total of 1,636 constituent stocks, 753 advanced, 773 declined, and 110 ended the session unchanged.

Nomura Securities senior strategist Takashi Ito noted, "Increased capital investment by leading U.S. tech firms will benefit Japanese stocks related to artificial intelligence and semiconductors."

Alphabet Inc, the parent company of Google, has once again raised its already high capital expenditure forecast for 2026, informing investors that its full-year capital spending could exceed $200 billion as it fully commits to building the computing infrastructure necessary to support its AI strategy.
