General Motors' stock soared 5.49% during intraday trading on Tuesday, driven by the company's release of better-than-expected second-quarter financial results and an upward revision to its full-year outlook.

The Detroit automaker reported adjusted earnings per share of $3.57 for the quarter, significantly surpassing the analyst consensus estimate of $3.20. Revenue of $48.03 billion also exceeded expectations, rising 1.9% year-over-year. The strong performance was fueled by resilient consumer demand for high-margin trucks and SUVs in North America, where the adjusted EBIT margin improved to 8.6% from 6.1% a year earlier.

Bolstered by these results, GM raised its full-year 2026 adjusted EBIT guidance to a range of $14 billion to $16 billion, up from its previous forecast of $13.5 billion to $15.5 billion. The company also increased its outlook for adjusted earnings per share. Management cited continued strength in pricing, lower warranty costs, and a narrowing loss in its electric vehicle business as key factors supporting the upgraded guidance.
