The 2026 "Yangcheng Craftsman Cup" Guangzhou Industrial Robot System Maintenance Skills Competition and awards ceremony, organized by the Guangzhou Municipal Federation of Trade Unions and co-hosted by the Huadu District Federation of Trade Unions and District Human Resources and Social Security Bureau, was successfully held on July 7th at the Dongfeng Nissan Passenger Vehicle Company's employee activity center. This high-level municipal skills event, which brought together skilled elites from intelligent manufacturing enterprises across the city to compete, focused on fostering new quality productive forces and benchmarking against senior technician occupational standards, has now concluded.

This competition represents the Guangzhou Municipal Federation of Trade Unions' effort to closely align with industrial development needs, building a tripartite competition framework involving government, enterprises, and educational institutions, thereby creating a professional and standardized municipal-level skills competition platform. The event was open to in-service employees from intelligent manufacturing enterprises across the city, covering key industries such as automotive manufacturing, intelligent equipment, new energy, and elevators.

On June 27th, the closed-book theoretical assessment commenced at the Craftsman Building of Guangzhou Huafeng Senior Technical School. The competition's technical expert group formulated exam questions based on the practical requirements of frontline positions. The assessment content covered fundamental robot principles, equipment operation and maintenance, safety production regulations, and industry management systems, comprehensively evaluating the participants' theoretical knowledge.

A total of 67 contestants participated in this theoretical exam, with the highest score being 91 points. The top 30 performers based on scores were selected to advance to the practical skills final.

The competition rules featured a distinctive characteristic: theoretical scores were incorporated into the final total score with a weighting of 20%, while practical skills performance accounted for 80%, highlighting the emphasis on assessing practical operational capabilities.

The practical skills final was held on July 7th at the Dongfeng Nissan factory site, closely mirroring real-world conditions in automotive intelligent manufacturing. It consisted of four core practical tasks: inspection and diagnosis of industrial robot mechanical systems, troubleshooting of electrical system faults, operation and maintenance of a trajectory glue application workstation, and commissioning of a motor assembly workstation. The competition site also incorporated specific scoring deductions for work standards, safe operation, and professional conduct, compelling participants to strictly adhere to production operation procedures.

Within the practical arena, contestants operated with intense focus under high-pressure conditions, with each batch competition lasting 120 minutes, presenting a rigorous test of both professional skills and psychological resilience. Faced with various unexpected equipment malfunctions, the participants remained calm and methodical. They meticulously disassembled and inspected various mechanical robot components, precisely measured and calibrated transmission structures, systematically traced wiring, quickly located and diagnosed electrical faults, meticulously completed parameter calibration for trajectory glue application, and programmed and debugged motor assembly workstations, calmly handling various unexpected situations such as equipment alarms and program deviations.

The competition venue also featured three themed exhibition areas from Dongfeng Nissan: Technological Innovation, School-Enterprise Cooperation, and Model Workers and Craftsmen Assisting Enterprises. Dongfeng Nissan's four employee innovation studios showcased multiple self-developed physical achievements, including a static millimeter-wave indoor calibration system, a following intelligent transport cart, a self-developed collaborative robot, a SLAM LiDAR AGV, an AI-powered inspection robot, as well as digital technical transformation projects like vehicle AI diagnostics and intelligent customer service. These exhibits collectively demonstrated the achievements of frontline employees in cost reduction, efficiency improvement, and tackling challenges in intelligent manufacturing.

Ultimately, Zhu Xiaomin from Guangzhou Fengshen Automobile Co., Ltd. secured first place. This "Yangcheng Craftsman Cup" Industrial Robot System Maintenance Skills Competition served not only as a professional platform for skilled talent in the city's intelligent manufacturing sector to exchange techniques and learn from each other, but also as a significant vehicle for discovering industrial craftsmen, addressing skill gaps in intelligent manufacturing, and promoting the spirit of craftsmanship.

A relevant official from the Guangzhou Municipal Federation of Trade Unions stated that this event functioned as both a platform for technological exchange and demonstration within the intelligent manufacturing industry and, more importantly, as a means to cultivate versatile skilled talent for the automotive and intelligent equipment industrial chains, thereby strengthening the talent foundation for the development of the manufacturing sector.
