In a move to safeguard the safety of consumers' "shopping baskets" and reinforce the defense line for fresh produce quality, the Market Supervision Administration of Jining District in Ulanqab City, Inner Mongolia, has been executing a daily testing mechanism for agricultural products at local wet markets since the start of this year.

This initiative aligns with the region's livelihood project directives, aiming to tighten control over the sources of agricultural products and ensure they meet safety standards before entering the market. Currently, the program has been rolled out across seven wet markets, including the Kangtai Hui Min Yuan Agricultural and Sideline Products Trading Center, Lüfeng Wet Market, Lianying Vegetable Market, Xinti Road Hui Min Yuan, Gongnong Road Hui Min Yuan, Jiefang Road Hui Min Yuan, and Qiaoxi Hui Min Yuan.

The testing efforts focus on high-frequency consumer items, with particular attention to fruits, vegetables, livestock and poultry meat, and aquatic products. Rapid screening is conducted for critical indicators such as pesticide residues, veterinary drug residues, food additives, and illegal additives. Through this routine rapid testing, the authorities aim to bolster source control, market access management, and risk hazard investigation. Any non-compliant products are promptly dealt with to prevent food safety risks at the market entry point.

As of the end of July, a cumulative total of 6,385 batches of fresh produce have been sampled and tested within the jurisdiction, effectively protecting the safety of consumers' dining tables.

Looking ahead, the Jining District Market Supervision Administration will continue to deepen the implementation of the "daily testing" program. They plan to dynamically adjust the types of products tested based on consumption patterns, optimize the frequency of sampling, and refine testing procedures to enhance the efficiency and quality of rapid testing operations. Through consistent and meticulous oversight, the administration seeks to weave a comprehensive safety net for the quality of agricultural products, thereby ensuring the dietary safety and security of the general public.
