At the Intelligent Electric Vehicle Development High-Level Forum (2026) held at the Beijing National Convention Center Phase II on April 11-12, Shan Jizhang, Founder and CEO of BLACK SESAME, shared his insights. The forum's theme focused on advancing the intelligent, green, integrated, and international development of new energy vehicles.

Shan Jizhang noted that while AI, particularly language models, advanced rapidly in recent years, a shift towards physical AI is now occurring. He emphasized that world models are already being applied in the field of intelligent driving.

He stated that the combination of VLA and world models presents a highly promising solution for future intelligent driving systems, especially for high-level autonomous driving. Drawing a parallel to AI systems like AlphaGo and AlphaZero, which surpassed human capabilities in the game of Go, Shan suggested that VLA integrated with world models has the potential to exceed human driving abilities.

He explained that this combined approach allows the system not only to review the driving history of the past few seconds to determine the next action but also to simulate the interactions between various targets and agents for the next five to ten seconds. This capability is expected to significantly enhance the performance and sophistication of intelligent driving systems. Therefore, within this technological framework, there is a substantial opportunity to surpass human driving proficiency.
