On the morning of March 3, Wu Lei, Party Committee Secretary and Chairman of Shanghai Electric Group, along with a delegation, visited Hu Wangming, Party Committee Secretary and Chairman of China Baowu Steel Group (referred to as China Baowu). The two sides held in-depth discussions on deepening strategic coordination, expanding cooperation areas, and promoting the development of a green and intelligent steel industry. Zhu Zhaokai, Deputy Party Committee Secretary and President of Shanghai Electric Group, and Fei Peng, Standing Committee Member of the Party Committee and Vice President of China Baowu, were also present.

Hu Wangming provided an overview of China Baowu’s current operations, development strategy, and trends in the steel industry. He noted that in recent years, China Baowu has focused on strengthening, optimizing, and expanding its operations, continuously enhancing collaboration across the industrial and supply chains. By optimizing its industrial layout, the company is actively building a coordinated system spanning procurement, manufacturing, marketing, logistics, and research and development. Hu emphasized the long-standing cooperation and strong industrial complementarity between China Baowu and Shanghai Electric. He expressed hope that both parties would concentrate on key areas such as green and low-carbon transformation, technological innovation, and international expansion to promote more innovative and exemplary collaborative projects for mutual benefit.

Wu Lei introduced Shanghai Electric’s development strategy, business layout, and recent operational performance. He stated that Shanghai Electric is currently focusing on key directions such as green and low-carbon initiatives, smart manufacturing, industrial robotics, and zero-carbon industrial parks, continuously increasing investment in technology to drive innovation. Wu highlighted the solid foundation of cooperation between Shanghai Electric and China Baowu, noting significant achievements in areas including localization of high-end equipment, joint research on core technologies, and implementation of green and low-carbon projects. He expressed hope that both sides would further expand cooperation boundaries and innovate collaboration models, with a particular focus on hydrogen energy utilization, new materials R&D, and the construction of zero-carbon parks, working together to create a model of central-local cooperation and support the transformation of the steel industry toward higher-end, greener, smarter, and more efficient development.
