During the peak summer travel season, cultural and tourism authorities across multiple regions have recently announced the revocation of 3A-level ratings for a number of scenic spots.

On July 31, 2026, the Suzhou Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism in Anhui Province announced that the Xiaoxian Yinshan Manor, due to its own limitations, could no longer meet the relevant grade requirements of the national standard "Classification for Quality Grades of Tourist Attractions" (GB/T17775-2024). The scenic spot voluntarily applied to withdraw from the grade-rated tourist attractions list. After review by the Suzhou Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, and in accordance with the "Administrative Measures for Quality Grades of Tourist Attractions" and other relevant regulations, it was decided to cancel the 3A-level tourist attraction quality rating of Xiaoxian Yinshan Manor.

On July 30, the Yangquan Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism in Shanxi Province issued a notice stating that to strengthen the quality management of tourist attractions, and based on the "Classification for Quality Grades of Tourist Attractions" (GB/T17775-2024) and the "Administrative Measures for Quality Grades of Tourist Attractions," it was decided after study to cancel the national AAA-level tourist attraction quality rating of Yuxian Cangshan Cuigu.

On July 30, the Bureau of Culture and Tourism of Jintai District, Baoji City, Shaanxi Province, released a notice stating that the Yuchi Commune, a national AAA-level tourist attraction in Jintai District, had voluntarily ceased tourism reception operations due to poor management. The scenic spot's tour facilities and supporting equipment had lacked regular maintenance for an extended period. Currently, it is the critical flood prevention period of late July and early August, with frequent occurrences of extreme weather such as heavy rainfall and short-term severe convective weather. The safety hazards in the scenic area's trails, waterside facilities, and supporting buildings have been continuously increasing, making it completely unsuitable for safe operation and opening. Effective from the date of this announcement, the Yuchi Commune scenic spot will be officially and fully closed. During the closure period, all operational services of the scenic spot, including tourist reception and sightseeing tours, will be completely suspended.

On July 29, the Hami Municipal Bureau of Culture, Sports, Radio, Television, and Tourism in Xinjiang issued a notice: To fully implement the "Administrative Measures for Quality Grades of Tourist Attractions" and the national standard "Classification for Quality Grades of Tourist Attractions" (GB/T17775-2024), strictly enforce the requirements for dynamic review and management of A-level tourist attractions, further standardize the routine dynamic management of A-level tourist attractions in the region, strictly uphold the discipline of scenic spot quality grade assessment, and effectively maintain the brand credibility and industry authority of A-level tourist attractions, it was decided after comprehensive evaluation to cancel the national 3A-level tourist attraction quality rating of Hami Xinya Art Garden Winery. Earlier, the Hami cultural and tourism authorities also decided to cancel the national 3A-level tourist attraction quality rating of Hami Melon Garden.

On July 29, the Linhai Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism, and Sports in Taizhou, Zhejiang Province, also issued a notice: According to the "Administrative Measures for Quality Grades of Tourist Attractions" and the "Classification and Evaluation of Quality Grades of Tourist Attractions," the East Zhejiang Leisure Home City scenic spot, due to issues such as the degradation of its core sightseeing functions and the lagging iteration of its cultural and tourism business formats, failed to meet the national AAA-level tourist attraction quality grade standards. Following the scenic spot's application and review by the Taizhou Municipal Tourist Attractions Quality Rating Committee, it was decided to cancel the national AAA-level tourist attraction quality rating of the East Zhejiang Leisure Home City scenic spot.

On July 29, the Baofeng County Bureau of Culture and Tourism in Henan Province issued a document: In accordance with the national standard "Classification and Evaluation of Quality Grades of Tourist Attractions" (GB/T17775-2024) and the "Administrative Measures for Quality Grades of Tourist Attractions in Henan Province," and based on the results of the 2026 tourist attraction quality grade review for Baofeng County, it was decided after study to cancel the tourist attraction quality grades of Kanglong Ideal Rural Tourist Resort (3A) and Shibanhe Scenic Spot (3A).

On July 27, the Zhangye Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, and Tourism in Gansu Province issued a public notice: To further standardize the management level and service quality of A-level tourist attractions, and in accordance with the national standard "Classification for Quality Grades of Tourist Attractions," the "Great Wall Protection Regulations," the "Administrative Measures for Quality Grades of Tourist Attractions," and related policy requirements, the Party Leadership Group meeting of the Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, and Tourism agreed to propose revoking the national 3A-level tourist attraction quality grade certifications for the Linze Xianggu Scenic Spot, Shandan Hanming Great Wall Scenic Spot, Shandan County Ci'er Mountain Scenic Spot, and Minle County Qinglong Mountain Scenic Spot. This is now being publicly announced.

On July 23, the Ziyang Municipal Committee for the Evaluation of Tourism Resource Planning and Development Quality in Sichuan Province announced that the Foshan Orange Sea·Orange Joy Pastoral Scenic Spot in Yanjiang District, Ziyang City, due to adjustments in its development orientation and the weakening of its tourism functions, could no longer meet the relevant grade requirements of the national standard "Classification for Quality Grades of Tourist Attractions" (GB/T17775-2024). In accordance with the "Administrative Measures for Quality Grades of Tourist Attractions" and other relevant regulations, it was decided after study to cancel the AAA-level tourist attraction quality rating of this scenic spot.

On July 21, the Shizuishan Municipal Star Rating Committee in Ningxia issued a notice stating that, in accordance with the "Classification for Quality Grades of Tourist Attractions" (GB/T17775-2024) and the "Administrative Measures for Quality Grades of Tourist Attractions," it was decided after study by the committee to cancel the national AAA-level tourist attraction qualification of Pingluo Yuhuang Pavilion.

According to the "Administrative Measures for Quality Grades of Tourist Attractions," the quality grades of tourist attractions are divided into five levels, from low to high: 1A, 2A, 3A, 4A, and 5A. 3A-level and below are assessed by provincial tourist attraction quality grade evaluation committees (which can authorize municipal-level committees). 4A-level is recommended by provincial committees and assessed by the national committee. 5A-level is selected from among 4A-level attractions; those that have been publicly announced as 4A for more than three years can apply for 5A. The evaluation process includes five stages: document review, landscape value assessment, on-site inspection, public announcement, and issuance of the notice. Tourist attraction quality grade evaluation bodies at all levels conduct supervision, inspection, and review of the evaluated attractions, with reviews divided into annual reviews and statutory reviews upon the expiration of five-year terms. Attractions that fail to meet requirements after review may face penalties ranging from the issuance of warning letters, public criticism, grade reduction, or grade cancellation, depending on the severity of the situation.
