WEIHAI BANK 2025 Sustainability Report: Assets Top RMB 500 Billion, Green Credit Jumps 51% and Tech Lending Soars 70%

WEIHAI BANK’s newly-released 2025 Sustainability Report shows the city commercial lender has entered the ranks of China’s mid-sized banks with total assets of RMB 504.52 billion, aided by record-high deposits, loans and profits.

• Key operating metrics  – Net profit increased to RMB 2.50 billion on operating income of RMB 9.92 billion.  – Non-performing loan ratio improved to 1.41%.

• Green finance acceleration  – Outstanding green credit reached RMB 56.21 billion, a 51% year-on-year rise and equal to 24.76% of the total loan book.  – Cumulative green bond issuance amounted to RMB 9 billion; green bond investments total RMB 2.35 billion.  – Environmental benefits from new green lending include an annual reduction of 258,900 tonnes of CO₂ and 126,700 tonnes of standard coal.

• Technology and inclusive finance  – Loans to technology enterprises grew 70% to RMB 17.21 billion, serving 2,110 tech clients.  – Inclusive finance loans rose to RMB 35.63 billion; agriculture-related lending advanced 21% to RMB 30.02 billion.

• Climate and nature disclosures  – First city commercial bank in Shandong to sign the UN Principles for Responsible Banking.  – First commercial bank in China to publish a TNFD-aligned nature-related disclosure.  – Scope 1 & 2 emissions totalled 18,754 tonnes CO₂e; a carbon-peak action plan targets peak emissions by 2029 and at least 27% green-loan share by 2030.

• Governance and recognition  – ESG Class A rating in Shandong banking industry for the third consecutive year.  – Issued RMB 4 billion small-and-micro enterprise bonds; green ABS debut of RMB 172 million.  – Board considered 43 ESG-related resolutions; green finance management committee and specialised risk controls fully operational.

The bank plans to build at least 10 net-zero carbon branches by 2030 and will continue to align strategy with national “dual-carbon” goals while supporting regional economic development through its “1 + 3 + 5 + N” green finance framework.
