Shares of commercial space companies opened sharply higher on Tuesday, driven by a major breakthrough in reusable rocket technology.

As of the time of writing, DRINDA (02865) climbed 9.83% to HK$21.00, APT SATELLITE (01045) advanced 7.57% to HK$2.345, GOLDWIND (02208) gained 6.68% to HK$11.66, and C STRATEGIC TEC (01725) rose 4.55% to HK$0.345.

The rally follows the successful launch of the Zhuque-3 second test rocket on August 19 from the Dongfeng Commercial Space Innovation Test Zone. The rocket's first stage landed precisely on the designated pad in Minqin County, Gansu Province, marking a controlled ground recovery.

This mission represents China's first successful land-based controlled recovery of a reusable launch vehicle using landing legs, following the sea-based net recovery of the Long March 10B rocket's first stage on July 10. The achievement signifies a major technological leap forward in China's reusable rocket development.

Industry analysts have noted that if the Zhuque-3 achieves stable recovery and reuse, it could transform China's commercial rocket operations into high-frequency missions, serving as a cornerstone for satellite internet infrastructure and space infrastructure development. As reusable rocket technology continues to advance, the demand for satellite internet constellation deployment is expected to accelerate, potentially ushering in a period of rapid industrialization for the commercial space sector.
