Stock Track | Sarepta Therapeutics Plunges 5.32% on Q4 Earnings Miss and CEO Retirement Announcement

Sarepta Therapeutics' stock fell 5.32% over the past 24 hours, as the biopharmaceutical company faced significant selling pressure following the release of its quarterly financial results and a major leadership change.

The decline was triggered by the company's disappointing fourth-quarter 2025 earnings report, which showed an adjusted loss per share of $3.58, missing analyst estimates of a $1.31 loss by a wide margin of 172.45%. This represented a dramatic 288.42% decrease compared to earnings of $1.90 per share in the same period last year. While quarterly sales of $442.934 million exceeded consensus estimates, they still reflected a concerning 32.73% year-over-year decline, with total revenues falling 33% to $442.9 million.

Adding to investor concerns, Sarepta announced that CEO Douglas Ingram plans to retire by the end of 2026 or when a successor is appointed. The leadership transition comes after a tumultuous year for the company, marked by challenges with its gene therapy Elevidys, including two patient deaths that led to a voluntary halt in shipments at the FDA's request, a boxed warning for serious liver injury added to the drug's label, and 500 job cuts announced last year. The company's financial position was strengthened through refinancing of 2027 notes, but investors reacted negatively to the combination of poor earnings and leadership uncertainty.
