According to reports from China Central Television, the Ministry of Emergency Management has confirmed that it is intensifying efforts to support rescue and disaster relief operations following a massive mudslide in Gyirong County, Shigatse, Tibet.

To bolster these operations, the ministry has deployed surveillance and heavy-lift drones under the "Rain Swallow Emergency" program to continuously monitor the evolving situation at the Purepuqiangzangbu landslide lake. These aerial assets are providing real-time data for rolling assessments and expert consultations, enabling comprehensive guidance for on-ground rescue teams.

On the evening of August 29th, forward-deployed surveillance drones detected a new landslide approximately 2.8 kilometers downstream of the existing Purepuqiangzangbu barrier lake. This fresh slide has created a secondary barrier, indicating the formation of a new landslide lake upstream.

In immediate response, the Ministry of Emergency Management convened an urgent meeting of experts to analyze the situation and formulate contingency plans. Simultaneously, all rescue personnel operating near the Gyirong port have been proactively relocated to safer positions to prevent any potential casualties from the evolving geological hazard.
