According to market reports, automotive stocks saw an accelerated decline in the afternoon trading session. As of the time of reporting, XPeng-W (09868) fell by 4.83% to HKD 78.8; GWMOTOR (02333) decreased by 4.02% to HKD 14.81; GAC GROUP (02238) was down 3.5% to HKD 3.31; and BRILLIANCE CHI (01114) dropped 2.8% to HKD 3.82. On the news front, a representative from the State Administration for Market Regulation stated on October 17 during the 2025 World Intelligent Automobile Conference that the agency will innovate the recall regulatory system, establish a reporting protocol for fire incidents involving new energy vehicles, and implement a remote upgrade reporting system. They are currently collaborating with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology to draft guidelines aimed at enhancing supervision of intelligent connected and new energy vehicle recalls, as well as regulating promotional accuracy to combat false, exaggerated claims and irrational competition. Additionally, according to reports, in response to the lawsuit filed by the Government of Singapore Investment Corporation (GIC) against NIO, a representative from NIO stated that the case is not a recent occurrence nor related to NIO's current business status, stemming instead from erroneous allegations made by the short-selling firm Grizzly Research LLC in a report released in June 2022. The report lacks basis and contains many inaccuracies, unfounded speculations, and misleading conclusions.
