The incident took place on August 30th during a stopover at Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport, involving the slide located at the rear left-hand emergency exit door.

Both China Southern Airlines and Shanghai Hongqiao Airport have confirmed the event, while the precise cause of the accidental deployment remains under investigation. Photographs taken by netizens at the scene have been circulated online, documenting the incident.

As a result of this occurrence, the flight schedule required immediate modification. The affected aircraft was originally slated to operate flight CZ6982 to Urumqi. The airline substituted a different aircraft for this route, resulting in a 70-minute departure delay. The involved aircraft was subsequently reassigned to operate flight CZ3572 to Guangzhou and departed normally that evening.
