The Guangzhou Municipal Commerce Bureau announced on May 6 that the city's trade delegation achieved substantial order intake during the 139th China Import and Export Fair (Canton Fair), with particularly strong performance in intended transactions targeting the ASEAN market, showing a year-on-year increase of 23.3% in transaction value. During the fair, Guangzhou organized over 300 trade matchmaking events.

As a barometer of China's foreign trade, this session of the Canton Fair attracted more than 32,000 exhibiting enterprises and approximately 314,000 overseas buyers from 220 countries and regions. Buyers from Southeast Asia emerged as a major force, with significant attendance from Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand, and other countries, becoming core customers for Guangzhou enterprises securing orders.

Data from the Guangzhou Municipal Commerce Bureau revealed that in 2025, the total import and export trade volume between Guangzhou and ASEAN exceeded 200 billion yuan (Renminbi) for the first time, marking a 28% year-on-year growth. In the first quarter of this year, the trade volume between Guangzhou and the ten ASEAN nations reached 47.47 billion yuan.

Regarding trade structure, in the first quarter, Guangzhou's main exports to ASEAN were mechanical and electrical products, labor-intensive products, and high-tech products. Key imports from ASEAN included consumer goods, agricultural products, and mechanical and electrical products, indicating a continuous expansion in the breadth and depth of trade exchanges.

During the fair, Guangzhou enterprises focused on the consumption upgrade and infrastructure construction demands of the Southeast Asian market. Showcasing a wide range from high-end intelligent manufacturing to intangible cultural heritage creative products, and from new energy products to daily necessities, they comprehensively demonstrated the innovation strength and product competitiveness of Guangzhou-based companies.

Guangzhou Sanjing Electric Co., Ltd., a new energy company with over 80% of its revenue coming from overseas and 66 wholly-owned subsidiaries established globally, reported a significant increase in intended orders. The company's负责人 stated that the solar and storage market in Southeast Asia is growing rapidly. During this Canton Fair, the company exhibited high-protection-grade intelligent solar-storage systems designed for high-temperature and high-humidity climates, which led to a substantial rise in intended orders, with the ASEAN market accounting for over 15% of this increase.

The Guangzhou Municipal Commerce Bureau stated that the city held over 300 trade matchmaking events during the 139th Canton Fair, achieving positive results in promoting trade through the exhibition platform.
