Hong Kong Government Reappoints Professor Huang Jielong as Energy Advisory Committee Chair and Unveils New Membership Roster for Two-Year Term

The Hong Kong government has announced the reappointment of Professor Huang Jielong as Chairman of the Energy Advisory Committee. The announcement also includes the appointment of 18 community members to serve on the committee for a two-year term, effective from July 15.

Secretary for Environment and Ecology, Mr. Tse Chin-wan, expressed gratitude to the outgoing Vice Chairman, Dr. Wong Tin-cheung, and six departing members for their past support and service. He extended a welcome to seven new members who are joining the committee.

Mr. Tse stated that under Professor Huang's outstanding leadership, the committee has previously provided the government with valuable insights on various energy matters. He looks forward to continued close collaboration with the new committee to exchange views and devise effective strategies on issues such as energy supply and pricing, the promotion of zero-carbon and renewable energy, as well as energy efficiency and conservation.

The Energy Advisory Committee is responsible for advising the government on energy policy, including matters related to energy supply and demand, conservation and efficiency policies, and other relevant issues.

The committee membership list is as follows: Professor Huang Jielong (Chairman), Chan Chuen-wai, Professor Cheung Chun-yu, Cheung Shuk-ming, Choi Siu-min, Chu Ka-man, Fong Chung-lun, Dr. Hung Oi-shing, Dr. Chim Ka-wai, Kwan King-fai, Kwok Mei-hang, Kwok Ho-yi, Gu Xiaonan, Professor Lau Sing-yeung, Li Kai-chi, Mui Hing-yiu, Professor Tam Fung-yee, Tang Ka-wing, Professor Wong Man-sing, along with the Permanent Secretary for Environment and Ecology (Environment) or their representative, and the Director of Electrical and Mechanical Services or their representative. Members in bold are incumbent members who are continuing their service.
