In response to the ongoing debris flow disaster response in Gyirong County, Shigatse City, Tibet, the Ministry of Emergency Management has deployed reconnaissance and heavy-lift drones from the "Rain Swallow Emergency" member units to continuously monitor the development of the Purepu Qiangzang Barrier Lake. Through rolling consultations and analysis, the ministry is fully assisting and guiding local authorities in rescue and disaster relief operations.

On the evening of August 29, forward-deployed surveillance drones detected a landslide at a location 2.8 kilometers downstream of the Purepu Qiangzang Barrier Lake, creating a new barrier body that is now forming an additional barrier lake. The Ministry of Emergency Management swiftly convened experts for assessment and analysis, while simultaneously relocating rescue and relief personnel near Gyirong Port to secure positions.

The new landslide barrier poses significant risks of further water accumulation and potential breach, which could threaten downstream communities and infrastructure. Authorities are maintaining constant aerial surveillance and conducting real-time data analysis to predict the barrier lake's behavior, ensuring that all necessary precautions are taken to protect lives and property in the affected region.
