XPeng Restructures Product Lines from Four to Two, Sources Say

XPeng Inc. has consolidated its product lines, reducing them from four to two, according to industry sources cited in a report dated September 28.

The company previously operated four product lines: F, D, I, and G. Under the restructuring, F and I have been merged into the G product line, leaving only G and D as the remaining two lines, according to the report citing industry insiders.

To clarify the original structure: the G product line was responsible for large SUVs such as the GX and G9L, the F product line primarily covered P-series sedans, the D product line handled the MONA series, and the I product line managed overseas products.

Alongside the product line consolidation, XPeng Inc. also carried out a round of personnel adjustments, according to sources close to the company. The former head of the F product line has retained their rank and now oversees product definition for the G product line. The former head of the I product line has shifted to managing XPeng's overseas affairs, though this role does not include overseas vehicle sales.

The report noted that XPeng's product lines are responsible for functions including product definition and research and development. By shrinking four product lines into two, the company aims to focus its R&D resources more sharply, which should help drive cost reductions while further avoiding overlap in positioning and pricing among different products.

In the first quarter of this year, XPeng launched the all-electric and extended-range versions of the XPeng P7+, the XPeng G7 Super Extended Range edition, and the all-electric XPeng X9. In May, the company introduced the all-electric and extended-range versions of the XPeng GX. Meanwhile, refreshed models of the XPeng G6, G9, and MONA M03 have all hit the market.

Despite the expanded product lineup, XPeng Inc. has not seen a notable increase in sales so far this year.
