According to sources familiar with the matter, SK hynix is evaluating strategic options for its assets in Chongqing, which may include bringing in investors to accelerate growth. The sources indicated that the company, a key supplier of high-bandwidth memory chips to Nvidia, has been engaging with potential advisors to assess the business.

Individuals with knowledge of the situation said a potential equity sale could value the facility at around $3 billion. SK hynix's website shows that the company entered the Chinese market more than 20 years ago, signing an agreement with Wuxi to build its first major overseas wafer fabrication plant. The Chongqing facility serves as a critical semiconductor packaging and testing base for SK hynix.

Sources added that potential bidders could include Chinese funds and industrial investors, with SK hynix possibly retaining a minority stake in the asset. The discussions remain at an early stage, and there is no certainty that any transaction will ultimately be reached, the people said.
