China Quality News Online reports that the Xining Municipal Market Supervision Bureau recently organized county-level market supervision bureaus to carry out a special supervision and inspection of measuring instruments in key locations during the peak tourism season, precisely targeting and rectifying metrology-related chaos in the tourism market. This special inspection focused on high-frequency consumer spots for tourists, with a particular emphasis on three core types of measuring instruments: electronic pricing scales, electronic balances, and commercial electric vehicle charging piles. The inspection achieved full coverage of key areas across the city, including scenic spots, tourist distribution centers, popular food streets, cultural tourism business districts, local specialty and gold, silver, and jewelry retail stores, restaurants and supermarkets along tourist routes, and electric vehicle charging stations.

During the inspection process, law enforcement officers primarily verified the registration, filing, and compulsory verification status of the measuring instruments, strictly penalizing issues such as overdue verification and the use of instruments that failed verification. They rigorously investigated the unauthorized modification of equipment, installation of tampering devices, adding objects to increase weight, screen blocking, measurement inaccuracies, and the use of newly installed equipment without prior verification, resolutely putting an end to practices that infringe on tourist rights, such as "shortchanging on weight" and metrological fraud. The inspection mobilized a total of 94 law enforcement personnel, inspected 372 business entities, and checked 526 measuring instruments, promptly arranging for the delivery of 20 instruments for verification. No instances of metrological fraud or use of substandard measuring instruments were found on-site.

Simultaneously, the bureau combined enforcement with legal education, providing on-site explanations of metrological laws, regulations, and compulsory verification requirements to business operators and charging station operators, along with metrology consultation services. This approach guided business entities to take responsibility and operate with integrity and compliance. Looking ahead, the Xining Municipal Market Supervision Bureau will maintain a high-pressure regulatory stance, conduct routine metrological spot checks related to tourism, strictly investigate all types of metrological violations, expose typical cases of misconduct, and continuously purify the tourism consumption environment, striving to enhance tourists' satisfaction and sense of well-being.
