According to Korean media reports, Samsung has completed the development of the Exynos 2600, with the chip set to begin mass production this month. This indicates it will be deployed in the Galaxy S26 series phones, with the new flagship lineup expected to debut in January next year.

The Samsung Galaxy S26 series is expected to launch three models: Galaxy S26 Pro, Galaxy S26 Edge, and Galaxy S26 Ultra. Leaks suggest the first two models will feature the Exynos 2600, while the latter will adopt Qualcomm's newly released Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen5 chip. Samsung may also implement a dual-chip strategy based on regional markets.

Compared to the previous generation Exynos 2500, the Exynos 2600 delivers significant improvements, particularly in power efficiency and thermal management. One of Samsung's methods for achieving these advancements is through thermal conduction blocking technology. According to Geekbench benchmark data, the Exynos 2600 operates faster than Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite, making it a major breakthrough for Samsung.

If the Exynos 2600 meets expectations, it would demonstrate the Exynos team's capability to manufacture competitive chipsets. It would also prove that Samsung's semiconductor foundry 2nm manufacturing process meets standards, potentially attracting numerous clients and revitalizing Samsung's semiconductor manufacturing business, which has been sluggish for some time.

Notably, the Exynos 2600 represents the world's first 2nm mobile chip. Qualcomm, Apple, and MediaTek are expected to transition to 2nm process technology at the earliest in the second half of next year.
