A pair of slope collapses struck Fengshan Town, Fengqing County, Lincang City, Yunnan Province on August 23, leaving four people unaccounted for.

In response, the Ministry of Natural Resources activated a Level IV geohazard defense emergency response for Yunnan at 2:00 PM on the 23rd and dispatched a working group to the site to guide rescue and relief operations.

The ministry has directed the Yunnan Provincial Department of Natural Resources to immediately deploy an expert team to the location, providing technical support for search and rescue efforts and emergency operations, while also urging authorities to learn from the incident and strengthen geohazard patrols, monitoring, early warning systems, and preventive measures under similar conditions. Additionally, the China Geological Survey and the ministry's technical guidance center for geohazards have been instructed to enhance expert coordination, organizational collaboration, and consultation and analysis to fully support technical assistance at the scene.
