CSPC Pharma Initiates First Chinese Site for Phase II Trial of siRNA Hypertension Therapy SYH2062

CSPC Pharmaceutical Group Limited (CSPC Pharma) has commenced the Phase II clinical trial (SYH2062-003) of SYH2062 Injection, its investigational treatment for adult essential hypertension, at the first clinical centre in China, according to a voluntary announcement released on 29 July 2026.

SYH2062 is a chemically modified, double-stranded small interfering RNA (siRNA) comprising 21 to 23 nucleotides and conjugated with N-acetylgalactosamine (GalNAc) for liver-targeted delivery. The candidate is designed to silence the angiotensinogen (AGT) gene, suppress protein expression, and mitigate over-activation of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS), thereby aiming to achieve sustained blood-pressure reduction.

Key milestones and study design: • Regulatory clearance: China’s National Medical Products Administration granted Clinical Trial Approval in December 2024. • Phase I results: Initial data in hypertensive patients demonstrated a favourable safety profile and confirmed pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic characteristics. • Current trial: The ongoing Phase II study is a multi-centre, randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial evaluating efficacy and safety in adults with mild-to-moderate essential hypertension; participant recruitment and screening are under way.

CSPC Pharma expects SYH2062 to offer longer-lasting and more stable blood-pressure control for Chinese patients with essential hypertension pending successful trial outcomes.
