Bank of Communications (BANKCOMM): 2025 Sustainability Report—Net Profit Hits RMB 95.62 Billion, Green Loans Rise 14%

Bank of Communications (BANKCOMM) released its 2025 Sustainability Report, detailing financial, environmental and social metrics for the year ended 31 December 2025.

Financial performance • Total assets expanded 4.35 % year-on-year to RMB 15.55 trillion. • Net profit grew 2.17 % to RMB 95.62 billion. • The non-performing loan ratio improved to 1.28 % (-0.03 ppt), while provision coverage reached 208.38 %. • Tier 1 capital adequacy ratio edged up to 12.70 %; the group remained in the global top-10 by Tier 1 capital for a fourth year.

Real-economy support • Outstanding corporate loans exceeded RMB 5.5 trillion, up 10.09 %. • Inclusive loans to SMEs rose 19.21 % to RMB 908.44 billion, serving 495,700 customers. • Technology-related lending climbed to RMB 1.58 trillion; loans to the elderly-care sector increased 49.12 %.

Green finance and climate action • Green loan balance reached RMB 950.83 billion, a 14.16 % increase. • Carbon-reduction loans totaling RMB 30.92 billion are projected to cut 6.51 million tCO₂e annually. • Group greenhouse-gas emissions stood at 487,944 tCO₂e; 40 outlets obtained carbon-neutral or low-carbon certification.

Risk and governance • The Board approved 97 proposals across nine meetings; five shareholders’ meetings reviewed 29 proposals. • Audit and compliance efforts included 24 IT audits and company-wide anti-corruption training covering 12,455 employees.

Human capital • Headcount rose to 97,932, with women holding 3,113 middle- and senior-management positions. • Employees averaged 127 training hours; RMB 235.58 million was invested in training.

Community and social impact • Financial-literacy initiatives reached 1.49 billion consumer interactions. • Charitable donations totaled RMB 64.73 million, funding 216 projects; staff contributed 390,821 volunteer hours.

Outlook The bank will begin implementing its 15th Five-Year Plan in 2026, maintaining focus on technology finance, green finance, inclusive finance, pension finance and digital transformation while continuing to embed ESG objectives across operations.
