On April 27, the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League and the All-China Youth Federation presented the 2026 China Youth May Fourth Medal and the New Era Youth Pioneer Award. The honors included awarding the China Youth May Fourth Medal to 29 individuals and 30 youth groups, and recognizing 749 individuals as New Era Youth Pioneers. Among the list of New Era Youth Pioneers, eight individuals from Hangzhou were honored.
The recipients are: Jiang Lijuan, Party Branch Secretary and Village Committee Director of Xiajiang Village, Fengshuling Town, Chun'an County; Chen Youqian, Assistant Station Master of the Xiaoshan Fire and Rescue Station in Xiaoshan District, Hangzhou; Han Meng, CEO of Hangzhou Juntong Future Technology Co., Ltd.; Juxihong·Julaite, Big Data Scientist at China Unicom; Zhao Tiancheng, CEO and Chief Scientist of Hangzhou Lianhui Technology Co., Ltd.; Cao Lin, Senior Expert at Alibaba Cloud Computing; Peng Qinglin, Delivery Rider at the Hangzhou Branch of Meituan Waimai; and Li Qingheng, Operations Specialist at Zhejiang Shentong Ruisheng Express Co., Ltd.
Jiang Lijuan, a village Party branch secretary born in 1989, resolutely gave up a comfortable city job to return to her hometown and start a business, taking root in the rural frontline. She led Xiajiang Village's transformation from a backward village with "earthen-walled houses and barely enough food for half a year" into a United Nations "World's Best Tourism Village," becoming a benchmark for young people in the new era who are dedicated to grassroots work, serving the people, and promoting common prosperity.
Like Jiang Lijuan in her commitment to the grassroots and safeguarding people's livelihoods, Chen Youqian has participated in over 2,000 rescue operations during his 12 years in the fire service, successfully evacuating and rescuing more than 100 people. In his spare time, he actively engages in volunteer work, having conducted fire safety awareness sessions for over 4,000 people and donating more than 2,000 milliliters of blood voluntarily. This year, he has focused on applying the "Fengqiao Experience" to firefighting practices, innovating a new integrated model of "fire inspection + familiarization drills + fire safety promotion." This approach not only enhances preparedness for rescues but also significantly improves the coordinated operational capabilities of various forms of fire and rescue forces.
Han Meng, serving as chief scientist for a national key research and development program (youth category), has dedicated years to the field of artificial intelligence ecosystem governance. He actively promotes the practical application of academic achievements, having established a comprehensive AI ecosystem governance system now applied in areas such as power grid inspection, financial risk control, and public safety. Through technological means, he enhances the intelligent safety levels of traditional industries, helping them reduce costs, increase efficiency, and improve risk prevention and control.
Similarly excelling in the AI field, Juxihong·Julaite has persistently tackled core technological barriers in research and development, facilitated the transformation of applications in industry, and fostered talent development to strengthen the foundation for growth. He fully demonstrates the professional competence, innovative capability, and sense of responsibility expected of scientific and technological talent in the new era, serving as a pioneering model for empowering Chinese modernization with new quality productive forces.
Zhao Tiancheng is a globally recognized top scientist and industrial practitioner in multimodal interaction and embodied intelligence, pioneering and leading the frontier sub-field of "spatial intelligence." Leveraging his industry influence, he has assembled one of China's earliest and most structured teams focused on multimodal large models and spatial intelligence. He has also led or participated in formulating national AI standards and undertaken several major national research and development projects, actively building an integrated and efficient "industry-university-research-application" innovation ecosystem that continuously injects strong momentum into regional and national scientific and technological self-reliance.
Cao Lin, a senior expert at Alibaba Cloud Computing, is affectionately called "Uncle Science Popularizer" by children in rural areas. In 2020, he initiated the nationwide science volunteer project "Heading for the Sky," focusing on aerospace and AI for rural regions. Relying on volunteer teams formed by Alibaba and Alibaba Cloud, he has provided free volunteer services for six years, delivering AI and aerospace science education to rural primary schools. He replaces chalk with code, transmits knowledge through algorithms, and uses "cloud" technology to connect scientific dreams across distances, turning AI into a tool for volunteer service and cloud computing into an educational bridge, truly bringing the light of technology into every child's heart.
Among the eight honorees are two workers from new forms of employment. Peng Qinglin, who jumped from a 15-meter-high bridge into the Qiantang River in June 2023 to rescue a woman attempting suicide, has persistently engaged in public welfare initiatives in recent years. He spearheaded the establishment of the "Peng Qinglin Public Welfare Courier Station," which has served 21,000 outdoor workers during high-temperature periods. Addressing the challenges of integrating new employment groups into communities, he created a communication platform called the "Courier Roundtable" and operates a Douyin account with the segment "New Trends - Courier Talk," helping delivery riders transition from "community bystanders" to "participants in governance."
Li Qingheng, who previously achieved first place in the courier category at the Zhejiang Province Third Courier Vocational Skills Competition through his own efforts, continues to lead fellow couriers in mastering techniques and sharing skills after being recognized as a high-level talent in Hangzhou. The "Courier Skills Studio" he established has trained over 600 individuals to obtain vocational skill level certificates, with participants achieving high rankings in various industry skill competitions.
Congratulations to the outstanding young individuals who received these honors!
