Bitcoin Rebounds Past $64,000 as Market Digests Internal Selling Pressure and Macroeconomic Concerns

Bitcoin's price climbed back to nearly $64,000 during early Asian trading on Tuesday, marking a 24-hour gain of about 2% and a weekly increase of roughly 1%. This recovery recaptured the $63,000 level that was lost on Monday.

Before this rebound, the cryptocurrency had dipped to around $62,250 before steadily climbing, eventually breaking through $64,100 overnight. Most major crypto assets followed this upward trend. Ethereum showed relatively weaker performance, hovering near $1,865 with a slight intraday gain but still posting a weekly decline of about 1%, making it the only major token to record a loss over the past seven days. Ripple rose nearly 1% to $1.08, with a weekly gain of about 2%. BNB climbed 1.5% to nearly $591, leading the major tokens with a weekly gain of almost 5%. Solana increased by over 1% to nearly $74, TRON rose 1% to $0.33, and Dogecoin similarly gained about 1% to $0.07. Hyperliquid rebounded more than 4% to $54, recovering some ground but still showing a weekly loss of 3%.

This rebound occurred against a backdrop of lingering negative market factors. The fourth round of asset liquidation from addresses linked to a vulnerable Coldcard firmware generation is still ongoing. Revised data shows this round has extracted approximately 449 Bitcoin from 709 addresses, and Galaxy Research has yet to confirm whether the same attacker is responsible. Meanwhile, Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy), a corporate Bitcoin reserve firm, disclosed on Monday that it sold 1,638 Bitcoin between July 27 and August 2, generating roughly $105 million. The average sale price was $63,957, well below its average holding cost of $75,419. This marks the company's third sale since 2026, with proceeds used for preferred stock dividends and share buybacks rather than repurchasing Bitcoin. The firm's holdings have now dropped to 842,138 Bitcoin, with no new purchases for over five weeks. Company founder Michael Saylor stated that this move boosts cash reserves to $4 billion and extends the company's cash runway by 57 days.

On the macroeconomic front, Asia-Pacific markets showed mixed performance. The MSCI Asia Pacific Index fell 0.7%, declining for the second consecutive day. South Korea's Kospi index initially rose 2.1% in early trading but closed 1.1% lower, and the regional semiconductor index dropped 1%. In U.S. stock futures, the Nasdaq 100 Index futures rose 0.4%. Palantir surged 14% in after-hours trading after raising its guidance, while Amazon fell 1.6% following a disclosure of a share sale by Jeff Bezos. Market attention is now focused on whether Bitcoin can hold the $63,000 level during U.S. trading hours. This level has been lost and regained twice over three trading sessions. If lost a third time, it would suggest weakening support below the $62,000 level.
