The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has announced that China's production of humanoid robots in the first half of this year exceeded half of the global total.

Wang Weiming, the Chief Engineer of the MIIT, provided details on the performance of emerging industries and new growth drivers during a press conference held by the State Council Information Office.

He highlighted that in the field of intelligent robotics, China's domestically developed quadruped robots accounted for nearly 70% of global sales, while over 400 models of humanoid robot complete products were produced, representing more than half of the world's total.

Key Industries Expanding Rapidly

Wang Weiming noted that a number of industries with international competitive advantages are growing rapidly. Beyond intelligent robotics, in the shipbuilding and marine engineering equipment sector, China's share of new shipbuilding orders from January to May reached 81.2% of the global total, solidifying its position as the world leader in market share.

He also pointed out that global unicorn companies have emerged in areas such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, new energy, and biomedicine, actively contributing "Chinese solutions" in areas like international standard development and industrial governance.

Significant Technological Breakthroughs Achieved

Regarding major innovative achievements, Wang mentioned that several critical technologies and strategically needed products made breakthrough progress in the first half of the year.

In the commercial aerospace sector, the recent successful controlled recovery of the first stage of the Long March 10B carrier rocket marked China's first controlled recovery of a launch vehicle and the world's first net-based recovery of a launch vehicle. Wang stated this signifies a historic breakthrough for China in reusable rocket technology.

In the new energy vehicle field, the global debut of the second-generation blade battery and the megawatt-level flash charging system has broken the technological bottleneck where "fast charging, high range, long lifespan, and low-temperature performance were previously considered incompatible."

In the new materials sector, breakthroughs in the production process for T1200-grade ultra-high-strength carbon fiber have made China the first country in the world to achieve hundred-ton-level mass production of this grade of carbon fiber.

Wang Weiming stated that the MIIT will adhere to an innovation-driven approach, strengthen research and development in core and key technologies, and accelerate the iterative upgrade of technological products. Concurrently, it will enhance application guidance by creating a series of typical application scenarios to speed up the large-scale adoption of new technologies and products.
