CSPC PHARMA (01093) has announced that the Phase II clinical trial for its SYS6041 (the product) in combination therapy to treat recurrent ovarian cancer has officially launched at the first center in China. The product is an antibody-drug conjugate targeting folate receptor alpha (FRα), classified as a Class 1 therapeutic biological product.

The antibody of this product can specifically bind to the surface of cells expressing FRα and be internalized into the cells' lysosomes. There, it is specifically cleaved by cathepsins to release a small molecule toxin—a topoisomerase I inhibitor—thereby killing tumor cells. Additionally, the product can nonspecifically clear surrounding tumor cells through the bystander effect.

Previously, the company received the Phase II clinical trial approval notice for combination therapy from the National Medical Products Administration in June 2026. The clinical trial is now underway, aiming to evaluate the safety, tolerability, and preliminary anti-tumor efficacy of different combination regimens of the product in patients with recurrent ovarian cancer. Subject recruitment and screening are currently being actively advanced.
