Uber has submitted a bid to the Seoul city government's tender process, seeking to operate an autonomous mobility platform in the South Korean capital, according to a report by the Korea Economic Daily citing unnamed industry sources.

The winning bidder will be granted the right to operate Seoul's driverless taxi services on its platform for at least two years, connecting multiple companies' autonomous vehicles to passengers through a ride-hailing interface.

This marks the first time a global mobility provider like Uber has applied to participate in South Korea's autonomous driving sector, the report said.
