In response to the impending threat of Typhoon No. 19, codenamed "Zitan," which is forecast to bring heavy rainfall to parts of Guangxi over the next three days, the Natural Resources Ministry has escalated its defensive measures.

Following a comprehensive assessment by the ministry's Geological Disaster Technical Guidance Center, which determined that the risk of geological hazards is elevated in several areas of southern Guangxi, the ministry officially initiated a Level IV emergency response for the region at 6 PM on August 22.

The directive mandates that the Department of Natural Resources of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region bolster its risk awareness and preparedness, prioritizing the prevention and response to geological disasters triggered by the intense downpours. The department is required to promptly organize inspections and patrols, ensure robust monitoring and early warning systems, conduct joint consultations and assessments, manage disaster and danger situations, and maintain rigorous duty and information reporting protocols.

Furthermore, the China Geological Survey and the ministry's Geological Disaster Technical Guidance Center are instructed to enhance their collaborative analysis and expert deployment, providing full support to local authorities in executing effective geological disaster prevention and mitigation efforts.
