On August 21, 2026, the newly developed deep-water multipurpose engineering vessel "Haiyang Shiyou 292" (Offshore Oil 292), invested and built by Offshore Oil Engineering Co., Ltd. and independently developed by China, was officially completed and delivered in Nantong, Jiangsu Province.

The vessel measures 126 meters in overall length, 28 meters in molded breadth, and has a displacement exceeding 17,600 tons. It is equipped with specialized equipment including a 400-ton crane, a 3,000-ton cable reel, and remotely operated underwater vehicles (ROVs).

With the capability to navigate unlimited international waters, the ship can undertake comprehensive offshore engineering operations such as subsea pipeline and cable installation, seabed surveys, and transportation support, further strengthening China's deep-water marine engineering equipment capabilities.

The delivery marks a significant advancement in China's independent innovation in deep-water marine engineering, enhancing the country's ability to carry out full-cycle subsea operations in challenging offshore environments.

The successful completion of this vessel underscores the growing technical expertise of China's marine engineering sector and its capacity to support increasingly complex deep-water energy development projects.
