TS Lines Limited (TS Lines) has signed two sets of shipbuilding contracts with Fujian Mawei Shipbuilding and Xiamen Shipbuilding, committing US$252.90 million (HK$1.97 billion) to construct six 2,900-TEU container vessels.

The first batch of contracts, executed on 19 November 2025, covers two vessels at an aggregate price of US$84.30 million. A second batch, signed on 20 March 2026, adds four vessels for US$168.60 million under substantially identical terms. Each ship carries a unit price of US$42.15 million.

Delivery is scheduled between June and August 2028 for the 2025 orders and in May 2029 for the 2026 orders. Payments for each vessel will be made in six instalments, with 10% due within five banking days after receipt of a refund guarantee and 50% payable upon delivery. The investments will be funded through internal resources and/or bank borrowings.

The six-ship programme is designed to enlarge TS Lines’ owned fleet and raise capacity in the Asia-Pacific trades. Management expects modern, fuel-efficient designs to lower unit operating costs and bolster compliance with tightening environmental rules while reducing dependence on chartered tonnage.

Under Hong Kong Listing Rules, the aggregated contracts constitute discloseable transactions: the relevant percentage ratios exceed 5% but remain below 25%, triggering announcement and reporting obligations without shareholder approval requirements.

Both shipyards are subsidiaries of state-owned Fujian Shipbuilding Industry Group; TS Lines confirms they and their ultimate owners are independent third parties.

TS Lines operates an Asia-Pacific-focused container shipping network, including joint services, slot exchanges and charters, with particular emphasis on routes originating from China’s Greater Bay Area.
