South Korean Customs Investigates Coupang's Foreign Exchange Transactions with U.S. Headquarters Government sources have revealed that South Korean customs authorities launched an investigation into Coupang's domestic subsidiary on Monday, aiming to examine foreign exchange transactions between the subsidiary and its U.S. headquarters.

Sources further indicated that earlier in the day, South Korean customs had dispatched an investigation team to Coupang's office in Seoul.

They noted that the probe will focus on capital flows and foreign exchange dealings between Coupang's U.S. headquarters and its South Korean subsidiary.

Authorities will also scrutinize whether sales revenue and profits generated by Coupang in South Korea have been properly accounted for, as well as whether payments between the two entities have been conducted in a合规 manner.

Coupang's business practices have come under heightened scrutiny following a data breach last month that impacted 33.7 million users.

Earlier on Monday, Coupang announced a compensation package valued at over 1.68 trillion won (approximately $1.17 billion), under which each affected user will receive discounts and coupons worth 50,000 won.
