According to data from Omdia's "Industrial and Commercial Display and OEM Market Insights," global industrial display panel manufacturers are projected to achieve revenue of $3.4 billion in 2025, representing a 24% year-on-year increase. Despite a slight 0.4% YoY decline in shipments, primarily due to Europe's gradual ban on disposable e-cigarettes, revenue growth for panel makers remains the core performance metric for this specialized segment, which is characterized by diverse application scenarios but relatively low shipment volumes. AUO Display Plus (达擎) leads the industrial display market in revenue, largely driven by strong performance in its POS products. Innolux (群创光电) ranks second, benefiting mainly from demand for gaming handheld display panels, while Tianma (天马) holds the third position, supported by growth in Human-Machine Interface (HMI), handheld devices, home appliances, and home medical products. Approximately three-quarters of the revenue growth is attributed to gaming handhelds and action cameras, which saw impressive YoY increases of 101% and 23%, respectively. The adoption of new display technologies is also fueling revenue growth; for instance, the penetration of mini-LED backlights in maritime and drone applications has boosted the average selling price of products. Focusing on revenue growth, panel manufacturers are increasingly prioritizing the expansion of their set business and the adoption of innovative display technologies such as AMOLED, electronic paper (EPD), and mini-LED backlight solutions. The penetration rate of AMOLED in the industrial display sector is expected to rise significantly in the coming years. In the gaming handheld panel segment, although AMOLED held only a 19% market share in 2025, the widespread use of 7- to 8-inch products with 120Hz high refresh rates, coupled with demands for lightweight, thin, and high drop-resistant features, is making AMOLED an increasingly viable option for next-generation display technology. As experience in AMOLED production accumulates, leading to continuous improvements in panel performance and reliability, the technology is being introduced into higher-specification applications, such as the military sector. These applications include fighter cockpit displays, armored vehicles, helicopter monitors, as well as military-grade laptops and ruggedized tablets, all of which impose stringent requirements for high brightness and performance across a wide temperature range. Geopolitical tensions are fueling increased global military activities, thereby driving expanded demand for military-grade display equipment. Shipments of quasi-military-grade displays are forecast to reach 965,000 units in 2025, a 5.9% increase year-on-year, with AUO Display Plus leading the market, followed by Tianma and BOE. Omdia anticipates shipments will continue to grow by 6.5% in 2026. Furthermore, the U.S. National Defense Authorization Act for December 2025 mandates that the U.S. military cease reliance on Chinese display technologies—including glass and computer monitors—by 2030, a move expected to reshape the global supply chain and accelerate the adoption of new technologies. TY Huang, Senior Principal Analyst at Omdia, commented: "While driving revenue growth through gaming handhelds, action cameras, and military-grade equipment, industrial display panel manufacturers are expanding from module businesses to set businesses and accelerating the adoption of new technologies like AMOLED, mini-LED backlights, and EPD. Against a backdrop of geopolitical tensions and market uncertainty, supply chain participants need enhanced flexibility to navigate diverse opportunities and challenges."
