China's July Producer Purchase Prices Rise 5.5% Year-on-Year, Fall 1.0% Month-on-Month

China's industrial producer purchase prices increased by 5.5% year-on-year in July, while declining 1.0% month-on-month, according to data released on August 9.

For the first seven months of the year, the average industrial producer purchase price rose by 2.8%.

In July, among the categories tracked, non-ferrous metal materials and wire prices surged 19.0% year-on-year. Fuel and power costs, along with chemical raw materials, each climbed 9.3%. Textile raw materials saw a 3.2% increase, while ferrous metal materials rose 1.4%. On the downside, building materials and non-metallic mineral products fell 4.1%, and agricultural by-products declined 0.8%.

On a month-on-month basis in July, fuel and power costs, as well as chemical raw materials, each dropped 2.6%. Non-ferrous metal materials and wire prices fell 1.4%, while ferrous metal materials and textile raw materials both decreased 0.2%. Building materials and non-metallic mineral products edged down 0.1%. In contrast, agricultural by-products saw a month-on-month increase of 0.5%.
