At the 2026 Intelligent Convergence Industry Development Conference, held on September 9th in Wuhan's Optics Valley and co-organized by the Intelligent Convergence Industry Innovation Center and Hubei Science and Technology Investment, Du Shengguo, Deputy Party Secretary and General Manager of the Yangtze River Industry Group, stated that the intelligent convergence industry, represented by embodied intelligence, is currently at a critical stage of accelerating technological iteration and transitioning from the laboratory to real-world applications. He emphasized that intelligent convergence is not merely a technical amalgamation of algorithms and large models, but a deep integration of technology, supply chains, capital, and application scenarios across multiple dimensions.

Du pointed out that whether it involves humanoid robots, intelligent unmanned equipment, new energy commercial vehicles, or electric intelligent ships, the essence lies in the fusion of an "AI brain" with physical hardware. To achieve true commercial viability, the industry cannot rely solely on breakthroughs in isolated technologies. Instead, it must solidify a common supply chain foundation encompassing electric drive systems, perception components, chips, critical materials, and the "storage-compute-connect-sense" framework. He further noted that the innovation entities within the industry chain are fragmented, and the connection between innovative outcomes and manufacturing capabilities remains weak. Many tech startups possess technology but lack manufacturing platforms, while manufacturers have processes but lack cutting-edge algorithms. Relying solely on individual enterprises makes it difficult to fill gaps across the entire chain, necessitating the urgent construction of an open, symbiotic industrial ecosystem.

Looking ahead, building an ecosystem for the intelligent convergence industry requires coordinated efforts from all parties. To this end, Du put forward three proposals. First, deepen the convergence model of capital and industry linkage. Intelligent convergence is a high-investment, long-cycle hard-tech track, and relying solely on enterprise capital places immense pressure. The catalytic role of industrial funds should be leveraged to promote investment-production integration. Second, focus on reinforcing the foundation of the common supply chain. Around shared components such as electric drive, perception devices, chips, key materials, and the "storage-compute-connect-sense" framework, the mature parts foundation of the automotive industry should be fully utilized to promote technology-sourcing across scenarios. Third, adhere to open collaboration to build a community of shared industrial interests. Intelligent convergence is a global track. While leveraging Hubei's local industrial base to strengthen and extend the chain, it is also essential to actively engage global innovation resources, abandon zero-sum thinking, and explore mutually beneficial technical standards and testing systems.
