Memory chip giant plunges to daily limit as market value hits 239 billion yuan

On August 3, the semiconductor supply chain continued its afternoon decline, with the memory chip segment leading the losses. The memory chip leader Gigadevice Semiconductor Inc. (SHA: 603986) hit the daily downside limit during afternoon trading, briefly opening before falling back to the limit. As of press time, the stock was trading at 340.74 yuan, with a total market capitalization of 239.1 billion yuan and a trading volume of nearly 20 billion yuan, ranking third on the A-share market.

On the evening of July 31, Gigadevice Semiconductor Inc. disclosed a share buyback plan, proposing to repurchase A-share shares worth no less than 1 billion yuan (inclusive) and no more than 2 billion yuan (inclusive). The company stated that the buyback price would not exceed 750 yuan per share (inclusive) and would be capped at 150% of the average trading price of the company's stock over the 30 trading days prior to the board's approval of the buyback plan. The buyback funds will come from the company's own funds and/or self-raised funds. The repurchased shares will be fully canceled to reduce registered capital. The buyback will be conducted via centralized bidding, with a completion period of six months from the date of shareholder approval.

Beyond Gigadevice Semiconductor Inc., as of press time, XianDao Base Electronics also hit the daily limit, while shares of Jingce Electronics, Changchuan Technology (rights issue), XinYuan Micro, and others fell by over 10%, and Deming Li dropped by over 9%.
