The image shows Zeiss Optics in Guangzhou's Sino-Singapore Knowledge City. In this innovation hub, Zeiss Optics is advancing its Phase III expansion project for the Industry 4.0 Health Optoelectronics Ecosystem, with cumulative investments exceeding 400 million yuan. This expansion marks Zeiss Optics' second growth curve—focusing on AR/VR, orthokeratology lenses, and eye health products.

What cutting-edge technologies can emerge from a small screen? The recently concluded 15th National Games showcased an unprecedented "city-wide panoramic closing ceremony." Using a 2,500-square-meter holographic transparent screen, elements like skies, oceans, and skyscrapers came to life through AIGC and naked-eye 3D rendering. This seamless integration highlights the maturity of Guangdong's ultra-high-definition (UHD) video and advanced display industry, which reported over 900 billion yuan in revenue last year—poised to become Guangdong's 10th trillion-yuan industrial cluster.

Over the past two years, Guangdong has already fostered two trillion-yuan clusters in automotive and new energy. What drives this rapid expansion? Experts argue that in the current wave of technological revolution, innovation is the decisive factor in building a modern industrial system. Guangdong is deepening the integration of technological and industrial innovation, accelerating the rise of emerging industries through industrial chain synergies, financial support, and talent aggregation.

**"New Quality Guangdong" Goes Global** At the National Games' closing ceremony, the façade of Shenzhen Bay Sports Center transformed from transparent glass by day into a futuristic 2mm-thin 3D floating screen by night, simulating waves and starry skies. "This project sets a new benchmark for large-scale sports event visuals," said Li Ji, Deputy General Manager of Unilumin Sports BU, underscoring China's leadership in display technology.

Beyond the stadium, Guangzhou's Beijing Road Pedestrian Street features a 1,200-square-meter 8K naked-eye 3D outdoor screen by 4K Garden, drawing crowds with mascots "Xi Yangyang" and "Le Rongrong." "Our AI-powered 8K production system boosts efficiency by 60%, solving cost and content shortages," said Wu Yi, Chairman of 4K Garden.

The National Games served as a showcase for Guangdong's UHD and display industry, spanning panel manufacturing, chip R&D, and content production. This cluster exemplifies how technological breakthroughs rapidly scale into production, reshaping ecosystems and setting standards.

A key example is TCL CSOT's 8.6-generation printed OLED production line in Guangzhou. TCL Technology SVP and TCL CSOT CEO Zhao Jun called it a "critical breakthrough," marking China's first high-generation AMOLED leadership. Once operational, it will attract upstream and downstream firms, forming a full industrial chain from materials to end products.

From viral screens to world-class production lines, Guangdong's UHD and display cluster is rising systemically. The province now hosts four provincial-level UHD industrial parks in Guangzhou, Huizhou, Zhongshan, and Shenzhen.

**A Trillion-Yuan Cluster Every Year** In early 2024, Guangdong announced its new energy cluster surpassed 1 trillion yuan in revenue—its ninth trillion-yuan cluster after automotive in 2023. If UHD video crosses the threshold this year, Guangdong will achieve a record of one new trillion-yuan cluster annually.

What fuels this momentum? XPeng Inc. Chairman He Xiaopeng highlighted three innovations: the IRON humanoid robot, Robotaxi, and flying cars, all set for mass production in 2025. IRON robots already handle sorting and quality control in XPeng factories, with costs under 500,000 yuan—40% below Tesla's Optimus.

XPeng's story reflects Guangdong's core advantage: robust industrial foundations and chain-reaction growth. Emerging clusters here build on existing strengths—like new energy leveraging automotive manufacturing or UHD video rising from electronics.

For example, Shenzhen-based Nreal (now rebranded as "TCL RayNeo") captured 35% of the consumer AR glasses market in just three years, topping global sales in Q2 2024. Its success stems from Shenzhen's mature electronics ecosystem, enabling rapid R&D and commercialization.

Nika Optics CEO Du Youcheng cited proximity to supply chains as key to choosing Guangzhou, home to two national-level innovation centers for flexible and advanced displays.

Guangdong's industrial map now features nine trillion-yuan clusters, transitioning from single breakthroughs to systemic leaps. Cutting-edge technologies are moving from labs to markets, while an innovation chain blending research, funding, and talent fuels high-quality growth.
