Taobao Flash Sale is expanding its overtime penalty removal initiative to 60 cities, with plans to cover all company-operated cities nationwide by the end of the year.
This year, Taobao Flash Sale has been promoting a service scoring mechanism to incentivize delivery riders through positive reinforcement and technical guidance. The system rewards on-time deliveries with points while deducting points for delays, ensuring riders' earnings are no longer impacted by overtime issues. The approach emphasizes performance-based compensation, linking rider safety, delivery efficiency, and user experience improvements.
Under the new rules, crowdsourced riders face a more flexible and scientifically designed scoring system. Starting from a baseline of 70 points, riders gain points for successful, violation-free deliveries, with additional rewards for scores above 75. Penalties apply for service lapses affecting consumer experience, with a maximum deduction of 2 points per overtime incident.
Following initial trials, the policy will expand to 60 cities on December 3, including Beijing, Hangzhou, Guangzhou, Wuhan, Chengdu, Xiamen, Xi'an, Shijiazhuang, Hohhot, Changchun, Shenyang, and Dalian. Full nationwide coverage for company-operated cities is expected by year-end.
