Prysmian Secures Major Long-Term Contract with Hyper-Scale Client to Expand Production for Data Center Business Growth

Prysmian has entered into a long-term agreement with Molex, a subsidiary of the major US private company Koch Industries. The contract spans up to 10 years and is valued at up to €5.5 billion (US$6.29 billion), including a €550 million (US$628 million) upfront payment, for the supply of optical cables required for internal deployment within data centers.

The agreement with Molex is part of a series of new contracts and commercial initiatives between Prysmian and hyper-scale data center operators and data center infrastructure suppliers. It is projected that, by 2035 and compared to a 2025 baseline, these agreements and plans will cumulatively generate over €10 billion (US$11 billion) in incremental revenue, with potential annual revenue reaching up to €1.1 billion (US$1 billion) starting in 2031.

To support this anticipated growth, Prysmian will significantly expand its production capacity for optical cables and optical fibers. The company's fiber optic manufacturing capacity in the United States is set to more than double from its current level.

This capacity expansion and the new agreements build upon Prysmian's existing strengths in both digital connectivity and energy connectivity for data centers. They will enable the company to extend its fiber optic and cable business into the so-called "inside-the-data-center" domain. This area is expected to be a key growth driver in the coming years, fueled by structural modernization cycles aimed at enhancing performance and energy efficiency, AI-driven architectural upgrades, and increased fiber density. These long-term trends present Prysmian with a significant opportunity to leverage its leading expertise in fiber optic technology and its domestic manufacturing capabilities in the United States.
