Golden autumn brings refreshing breezes and chrysanthemum fragrance across the fields. Currently, the medicinal chrysanthemums planted under the state reserve forest base in our county have fully entered the concentrated harvest period. Within the base, trees are lush and vibrant, while golden chrysanthemums bloom abundantly beneath the canopy, filling the air with their scent.
In the state reserve forest project area located in Gujinlou Town, vast stretches of golden chrysanthemums are in full bloom, their golden petals complementing the tall, upright trees. Workers move through the flower fields, skillfully picking plump chrysanthemum blooms and delivering them to designated locations for unified weighing.
It is understood that in recent years, the County Forestry Development Center has been deeply engaged in improving the management and quality of state reserve forests, vigorously developing understory compound economy, and activating idle forest land resources through the forest-medicine intercropping model, achieving simultaneous improvements in ecological, economic, and social benefits.
At present, our county has promoted the understory chrysanthemum planting industry on a large scale across five townships including Yangcun Township, Gujinlou Town, and Sizhuang Township. Varieties planted include Wuyuan imperial chrysanthemum, golden filament chrysanthemum, and golden chrysanthemum, with a total area of 630 mu, capable of achieving an annual total output value of 2.52 million yuan. Understory planting has begun to take shape.
The county's understory medicinal chrysanthemum industry can steadily provide employment for more than 300 local people on a nearby basis, with per capita annual income increasing by approximately 3,000 yuan. After harvest, the fresh flowers are processed by purchasing companies through standardized drying and preliminary processing, then directly connected to the traditional Chinese medicinal materials market, ensuring stable sales channels and controllable risks, truly turning idle forest land into green assets and ecological resources into a source of wealth for the people.
