Li Auto's Li Xiang Opposes "Launch Event Inflation," Vows to Only Hold Events with Significant News

On June 16, Li Xiang, the founder, chairman, and CEO of Li Auto, addressed the question of why the company does not hold more launch events.

Li Xiang stated that there is a current phenomenon in the industry that could be described as "launch event inflation."

He believes that while the number of launch events is increasing, the density of meaningful information at each one is decreasing. A single vehicle model can be the subject of multiple events from pre-launch teasers and debut to pre-sales, official launch, and facelift announcements, but user patience is ultimately limited.

"My standard for launch events is simple: if not holding the event would mean users miss out on learning about something important, then it should be held. If, after holding it, users haven't gained any valuable new information, then it shouldn't exist," he said.

Li Xiang mentioned that the themes of Li Auto's three most recent launch events were completely independent. "Some people complain that we hold too few events and that they are too short. Frankly, I'd rather users feel they didn't get enough than have them think, 'Here we go again.'"

Additionally, he revealed that a launch event for the "All-New Li L8" is scheduled for June 23. Meanwhile, on June 19, the Dragon Boat Festival, Li Auto's new flagship five-seat SUV officially commenced test drives.
