Direxion Daily MU Bull 2X Shares (MUU), a leveraged exchange-traded fund tracking Micron Technology, experienced a significant pre-market plunge of 13.47% on Monday.

The sharp decline reflects heightened investor anxiety over potential oversupply in the memory chip sector. Major industry players, including Samsung, SK Hynix, and the fund's underlying asset Micron Technology, have recently announced aggressive, multi-billion dollar capacity expansion plans. This wave of massive capital expenditure, highlighted by a combined $880 billion commitment from Samsung and SK Hynix and a $250 billion domestic investment plan from Micron, has intensified market fears regarding mid-to-long-term overcapacity.

Compounding these concerns, analysts have warned that the upward momentum for semiconductor stocks is "clearly fading." Morgan Stanley's chief U.S. equity strategist suggested capital may be shifting away from chip manufacturers. As a 2x leveraged ETF, MUU structurally amplifies the decline of its underlying stock, exacerbating selling pressure during periods of sustained sector weakness. The sell-off appears broad-based, with other memory chip stocks also experiencing significant declines in tandem.
